I Corp traces its roots to the Padamdi Estate – established in 1607 by a decree of commission by the Mughal Emperor Jahangir. The House of Padamdi was mostly vested in agricultural farming as a source of its income. However, after the fall of the Nawab of Bengal, the Estate joined forces with other landed Estates in Bengal for fighting off the invading forces of the Maratha and established contact with European traders. The Padamdi family made substantial headway into the Indigo plantations as of 1795. The First Battle of Independence of India in 1857 cost the Estate both in men and materials. However, the Padamdi Estate returned to business in 1873 after realigning itself with the Bengal Presidency. The partition of India in 1947 was a major blow to the land holding of the Estate and communication channels connecting its eastern trading posts with Kolkata and Bombay greatly impacted the cash flow to the Padamdi coiffures. A major part of its banking and insurance business as well as its films and theatre holdings were lost to the Partitions as well. By 1954, when the Abolishment of Landed Estates was enacted by the Pakistan Assemblies, the Padamdi Family had changed course and erstwhile optional government and military services became a near must for the members of the Family. The Glorious War of Liberation of Bangladesh in 1971 caused a major setback to the Padamdi Estate. Many of its Members had paid heed to the call for Freedom by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and laid down their lives literally in scores. The palace itself was burnt down by the Pakistan forces several times to teach the Family a lesson that it could not easily forget. It took a few years more to revive the estate and finally in the late seventies – the Padamdi estate emerged again with constructions and engineering services by its remaining members. Slowly and gradually, over the course of the next three decades, the House of Padamdi re-emerged and concentrated its commercial efforts as a Private Equity based Asset Management Company. i Corp was created. After a decade SINORD followed suite.

More recently, I Corp has moved into the domain of travel, tourism and connectivity projects involving land, air and sea transport. I Corp is also reengineering its land holdings for superior farm products and is planning to expand into Non-GMO value-added commodities and biological enhancements.
